Tips for PicoBoot and Swiss

1. Hidden files on SD card

Many of the setup files and folders are hidden by default so as not to congest the Swiss menu.

To see these in Windows open up the card, go to 'view' settings in the top bar, select 'show' and click on 'hidden items'.

Note that if visible in Windows they are visible in Swiss as well so will clutter the menu.

Can also change the folder properties to always show in both Windows and Swiss.

2. The animated boot

You can remove this by deleting the file called 'ipl.dol'and renaming 'boot.dol' to 'ipl.dol'

3. Animated boot color

There is a file called cubeboot.ini.

Where it says "cube_color = 8000ff" you can replace this color with one of your choosing.

Open this with a text editor and lookup color on https://www.color-hex.com/

4. Animated boot logo

can revert to standard picoboot by deleting "picoboot_logo.png" and renaming "picoboot_logo_original.png" to "picoboot_logo.png"

5. Updating Swiss

Download from: https://github.com/emukidid/swiss-gc/releases

Scroll about 1.5 page down to the first "Assets" section.

The file starts with "swiss_r" and is a 7z extensionUnpack and navigate to "swiss_r1420\swiss_r1420\DOL" folder (or similar).

Grab the "swiss_r1420.dol" (or similar) and move it to root of SD card.

If you kept the animated boot, rename it to 'boot.dol'

If you are going straight to Swiss, remame it to 'ipl.dol'

6. Sega emulation

There is a different setting if using AV vs Digital output.

Start the Sega emulator and navigate to video settings.

There are options for default/regular vs progressive.

If using Digital output, change this to progressive.

** to exit game, move right stick to right.
